Free swimming lessons for schoolchildren during summer holidays

Swimming lesson

Free intensive swimming courses for Berlin schoolchildren will once again be held during the 2025 summer holidays. The offer is not just for primary school children.

A total of around 2,800 places are available in the intensive courses. Of these, 2,400 places are reserved for primary school children from third grade and 400 places for young people in lower secondary school (7th to 10th grade) who do not yet have a bronze badge after their school swimming lessons.

Holiday swimming courses at five locations

The swimming courses will take place at five locations in Berlin: Stadtbad Tiergarten, Stadtbad Tempelhof, Schwimmhalle Hüttenweg, Schwimmhalle Anton-Saefkow-Platz and Schwimmhalle Helene-Weigel-Platz. Registration is open from Monday, June 30 at 5 p.m. at www.schwimmkurse-sportjugend.de. Participation in the courses is free of charge.

Reducing the non-swimmer rate

The aim of the free swimming courses is to reduce the number of non-swimmers in Berlin. The courses are offered annually during the Easter, summer and fall vacations by the Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family together with the Landessportbund Berlin, the Sportjugend Berlin, the Berliner Schwimm-Verband and Berlin swimming clubs. They are supported by the Berliner Bäder-Betriebe.
