Almost six weeks before the early Bundestag elections, the mailing of election notifications begins today in Berlin.
The documents will be sent to all around 2.4 million eligible voters in the city. According to the Landeswahlleitung (state returning officer), the first Berliners should have the notifications in their letterboxes on Tuesday. It may take a few days or weeks for all eligible voters to receive them. This should be the case by February 2 at the latest.
The voter's notification informs eligible voters that they are registered on the electoral roll and can therefore vote in the Bundestag election. The paper contains information about the polling station, for example, and must also be brought along when voting there on February 23.
When you receive your election notification, you also have the option of applying for a polling card with postal voting documents. However, these will not be sent out promptly, but only in four weeks from February 10. They will also only be issued at the postal voting offices in the districts from this date. The parties and candidates on the ballot papers must first be determined and then they must be printed.
