Berlin Plans to Establish a Service Center for Events

Berlin aims to make it easier to organize events, ranging from conferences to sporting events. To this end, a central service office for events is planned, according to the Senate Chancellery. The goal is to provide even more support to event organizers and to improve cooperation between government agencies and the events industry.

Conferences, major sporting events, the Carnival of Cultures, and the Lollapalooza Festival attract visitors from Germany and abroad. In 2025, for example, around 13.7 million people came to the capital to attend approximately 87,000 events. These events create jobs and boost the retail, restaurant, and hotel industries, as the Department of Economic Affairs argues.

Service Center to Operate Across Government Authorities

The planned interagency service center is a key component in Berlin’s continued development as an event capital. It is intended to serve as a one-stop shop, providing advice, clarifying responsibilities, and offering information on required documentation and timelines. In addition, guidelines, checklists, and a central information portal will help event organizers navigate the process.

Approval processes to be made more efficient

“Berlin is capable of hosting major events. We are already one of Europe's leading event hubs,” said Senator for Economic Affairs Franziska Giffey (SPD). “However, we also recognize that processes for event organizers, guests, and Berliners need to be improved in order to attract successful events to the capital or keep them here.”
