Berlin's numerous parks and green spaces are to become better maintained, cleaner and safer.

On Tuesday, the Senate presented a draft for a revised law on green spaces. As Environment Senator Manja Schreiner (CDU) explained, the law is intended to create more legal certainty for the districts in order to take action against littering, damage to plantings or loud night-time parties and to penalise this. This includes alcohol bans, for example. According to Schreiner, the new law will also serve as a legal basis for the fence planned by the Senate around Görlitzer Park in Kreuzberg and possible closing times. At the moment, talks between the governing mayor Kai Wegner (CDU) and representatives of the district on the implementation of the plan are still ongoing, said Schreiner.
