On Monday, the Superior Court of Justice (Kammergericht) of Berlin began using electronic files in civil and family cases.
"With the introduction of the e-file at the Kammergericht, we have taken another important step towards the complete digitalization of the Berlin judiciary," announced Berlin's Senator for Justice Felor Badenberg on Monday.
This step will significantly facilitate communication and the exchange of files between the instance that receives a complaint, for example, and the Kammergericht as the court of appeal, according to the statement. In September, the e-file had already been introduced at the regional court for civil proceedings. According to the authorities, the Kammergericht is initially conducting a trial run, during which further adjustments are still possible. According to the law, all files in the judiciary nationwide are to be kept electronically by 2026 at the latest.
