With special sensors at around 220 charging points for electric cars, the Berlin Senate wants to make it easier to monitor the pillars and detect incorrectly parked vehicles more quickly.
The number of charging points for e-cars in Berlin is continuously increasing, the Senate Department of Transport announced on Tuesday. This increases the monitoring effort for the regulatory authorities, which have to check that the parking spaces at the charging points are not blocked by combustion cars. The sensors are being installed at the charging points as part of a pilot project.
In the process, 220 parking space sensors are to be tested at charging points of the Berlin public utility company and linked to an information platform, the state's own "Digital Platform for Urban Transport". With the help of the platform, users of e-vehicles will be able to find out in real time about the availability of e-charging spaces.
