Berlin's Governing Mayor Franziska Giffey (SPD) informs about the results of the federal-state meeting on Monday afternoon (Jan. 24, 2022). However, it is not planned to take appropriate decisions already in the morning on it and to adapt the Berlin Infection Protection Ordinance to the agreements at the Conference of Minister Presidents. This will be done at the Senate meeting the following week - if urgently needed, a special meeting beforehand would also be conceivable.

Today (Jan. 25, 2022), the Berlin Senate is discussing, among other things, the Coronavirus situation in Berlin. The question of how cycling can be made safer in icy temperatures is also on the agenda.

Attendance at Berlin schools no longer mandatory
One topic of discussion is the Coronavirus situation at Berklin schools. Senator for Education Astrid-Sabine Busse (SPD) already announced an important decision on Monday: The attendance requirement for students has been lifted. Parents who are worried about the possible infection of their children can now decide to keep them at home.
Pilot project on winter bike lane safety under discussion
Mayor and Senator for Urban Mobility Bettina Jarasch brought up a topic in a tweet on Saturday that will now be addressed by the Senate: the safety of bike lanes during periods of frost in the winter. Jarasch has proposed a pilot project in which salt solution is to be used on icy bike lanes.
