In 2025, Berlin’s theaters and orchestras once again attracted significantly larger audiences. According to the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion, a total of more than 3.3 million paying visitors were recorded.

This marks a continuation of the positive trend in audience growth. Theatres, orchestras, and dance companies receiving public funding clearly surpassed the three-million-attendee mark last year.

Senator for Culture thanks the artists

Sarah Wedl-Wilson, the Senator for Culture and Social Cohesion, described it as a “strong year” for Berlin’s theaters. She noted that the high level of interest demonstrates just how much the city values its cultural offerings. At the same time, she praised the work of the artists and the staff behind the scenes, who have maintained a high artistic standard even under difficult economic conditions.

Friedrichstadt-Palast remains a audience favorite

According to the overview in the press release from the Friedrichstadt-Palast, the venue recorded a particularly high number of visitors, with approximately 508,000 guests. It was followed by the Deutsche Oper Berlin with more than 253,000 visitors and the Berliner Philharmoniker Foundation with around 242,000 visitors. The Staatsoper Unter den Linden and the Berliner Ensemble also achieved high visitor numbers.
