Starting this summer, trainees in Berlin and Brandenburg will be able to purchase the Deutschlandticket at a discounted price. It will be available for 37.80 euros per month and can be used on all local public transportation in Germany, according to the Berlin-Brandenburg Transport Association (VBB).
Advance ticket sales for Berlin apprentices will therefore begin on June 1, as the VBB reports that the necessary preparations have already been made in the capital. In Brandenburg, sales are expected to begin on July 1, 2026. “What is certain is that the new offer will be available to all trainees in time for the new training year in 2026,” the VBB stated. Accordingly, participants in volunteer services and Berlin civil service trainees will be able to purchase the ticket.
Berlin’s Senator for Transportation, Ute Bonde (CDU), welcomed the decision. “My administration and I have worked on this for a long time and fought for it.” At the same time, she thanked the state of Brandenburg and its new coalition government “for ultimately working with us to create the conditions necessary for this.”
