1,200 rental agreements signed for homeless people

Housing First

In view of the tight housing market, Berlin continues to focus on helping homeless people.

According to the latest information, a total of 1,183 rental agreements have been concluded so far this year, as announced by the Senate Chancellery.

State-owned housing companies provide the largest share of housing

Social Affairs Senator Cansel Kiziltepe (SPD) presented a report on the subject to the Senate. According to Kiziltepe, state-owned housing companies provide the largest share of housing. However, data from model projects such as "Wohnen statt MUF" (Housing Instead of MUF) and the Housing First project were also included. According to the social welfare administration, it is not possible to give the exact number of homeless people who have been given an apartment; only the number of rental contracts is statistically recorded. Kiziltepe announced that even if the general conditions remained challenging, apartments would continue to be reliably provided to homeless people.
