The first state-owned AI assistant is now available to employees of the Berlin administration.
The artificial intelligence system called BärGPT is designed to relieve employees of time-consuming routine tasks and make administrative processes more efficient, according to the Senate Chancellery.
Among other things, the AI assistant offers a free chat function for generating, translating, and summarizing texts, analyzing uploaded documents, and accessing administrative knowledge. Results can be exported in all common file formats. According to the information provided, the assistant was developed by experts at the Technology Foundation Berlin as an open-source solution. It was then tested in collaboration with administrative staff.
The system is therefore subject to high data protection and security standards. An integrated help center with video tutorials supports users in working with the AI. According to the Senate Chancellery, the state is responding to the shortage of skilled workers and demographic changes with BärGPT. Ultimately, all Berliners could benefit from more efficient administrative processes, it said.
