Museum der Unerhörten Dinge

Museum der Unerhörten Dinge

The Museum of Unheard-of Things is a collection of artistic, scientific and technical objects that are mostly overlooked but tell stories - or at least could tell stories.

The Museum der Unerhörten Dinge (English: Museum of Unheard-of Things) is undoubtedly a curiosity in Berlin's museum scene. Museum director Roland Albrecht has collected numerous objects, knickknacks and odds and ends, and has concocted fantastic stories to go with them.

A cabinet of curiosities from all walks of life

So there's more to admire at the museum than just objects: the stories behind them transport visitors into a world of fantasy. None of the accompanying narratives are based on historical or scientific evidence. Rather, the aim is to highlight the possible stories behind the objects. Thus, for example, a simple telescope becomes the telescope through which Christopher Columbus first laid eyes on America. The museum promptly elevates a small piece of amber to the status of the last relic of the legendary Amber Room from Königsberg Castle. It is a tangible, literary cabinet of curiosities spanning all areas of life, in which the truth plays no role.

Taking a moment at the Museum of Unheard-of Things

In a noisy world, quiet and small stories are rarely heard. At the Museum of Unheard-of Things, visitors are encouraged to pay attention to the little things in life - even objects that seem unremarkable at first glance can hold a fascinating story.
