The Museum Pankow at Heynstraße 8 not only showcases the history and everyday culture of Pankow. Some of its rooms date back to the Gründerzeit era or have been reconstructed.

Two rooms, some of which still feature their original furnishings, are open to visitors. Stucco, furniture, wall paint and everyday objects transport visitors back in time and offer a glimpse into middle-class life around 1900. On display are a parlor and the "Berliner Zimmer". Original elements have also been preserved in the stairwell, courtyard, garden, arbor, bathroom and gateway - such as the original built-in bathtub and parts of the wall paintings.

History of the museum's location

The museum, located at Heynstraße 8 (formerly the Panke Museum), is on the first floor of the apartment that once belonged to Fritz Heyn, a former rattan furniture manufacturer. The house was built in 1893 by architect Ernst Fröhlich on Heyn’s commission. The family lived in an apartment on the first floor. The premises have been open to the public since 1974. At its main location at Prenzlauer Allee 227, the Pankow Museum is dedicated to the history of the district.
