The neighborhood around Ku'damm boasts many landmarks: the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church on Breitscheidplatz, the radio tower at the exhibition center, the Zoo railway station, and the Europa Center.

The 3.5 kilometers long and up to 53 meters wide Kurfürstendamm is known around the world and, together with "Tauentzien", constitutes the most frequented shopping area in Berlin. From KaDeWe, the famously exclusive department store on Wittenbergplatz (already part of Schöneberg), to Lehniner Platz, the storefronts of international brands, luxury boutiques, converted cinema palaces, theaters, and cafés await visitors.

Tauentzien and Breitscheidplatz

Tauentzienstraße is the former bourgeois counterpart to the eastern centre and was erected during imperial times. This area suffered a lot of wartime distruction. Residential buildings are few and far between, but there are numerous offices, chain stores, and high-quality hotels. The area around Breitscheidplatz has been and is still in the process of being redesigned. Hotels and apartments, retail spaces and offices have already found their homes in the new architecturally ambitious new buildings.

Savignyplatz and Käthe Kollwitz Museum

One of the most sought-after and expensive residential areas in Berlin is Savignyplatz. Located north of Ku'damm, the neighborhood features magnificent old buildings and a bohemian flair with numerous restaurants, cafés, and boutiques. Germany's first house of literature opened here in 1986 on Fasanenstraße. Next door to it is the Käthe Kollwitz Museum. The Jewish Community Center is located only a few steps away.
