Who are you and what is your job?

My name is Felix Falk and I am the Managing Director of game. We are the German video games industry association. Our 500 members range from major international publishers and small developers to esports organisers and gaming universities, representing the entire ecosystem. That’s us, that’s game.

What’s the state of the German game market?

We are the largest market for video games in Europe and the fifth largest in the world. There is potential to grow the market and establish Germany as a major games hub.

How do you see the scene in Berlin?

Berlin is a really interesting city and one of the major hubs in Germany. It is a popular destination for start-ups, international collaborations and companies looking to expand. I think there’s also huge potential for Berlin as a games capital.

What are your hopes for the new House of Games Berlin?

I love the project. It’s a big vision. Of course, we are responsible for the whole of Germany, but I think House of Games’ great potential is that it will be visible not only in Berlin and Germany, but worldwide, because its scope and concept are unique. If we gain international awareness, new investments and companies will also come to Germany.

How does gaming and Berlin fit together?

I think it’s of great importance, both culturally and otherwise. Berlin is a vibrant, multicultural and dynamic city, and the gaming industry is very international. So I think it fits Berlin really well. It’s also a city that is very supportive of start-ups, with great backing from the Berlin government. Games also bring something back to the city. So I think it’s a great match.
