All the children in the village knew the legend of the Virgin: our savior, a figure of fire and light. When I heard the voices, I knew my life no longer belonged to me.

Not a girl and not yet a woman. I’m a legend in the making.

What do Christian martyrs and Britney Spears have in common? Where does medieval mysticism meet kitsch, pop culture, and madness? No other figure from the Middle Ages is surrounded by as many myths as Jeanne d’Arc.

The debut production by the young collective JOHN DARK explores the medieval icon from the perspective of captivity.
