What does Youth Sound Like?

A Passage Festival for the Season Opening

on 12 September 2026

© Peter van Heesen

Kicking off the new season, we’re handing over the Neuköllner Oper Passage to theatre clubs, community initiatives, and all the young, curious people of Neukölln and Berlin. How do they respond to a time in which crises cast a shadow over the future? What do they feel, what do they think, and what strategies do they find to cope? And how do these find expression on stage?

Expect dance and improv workshops, karaoke, a TikTok station, temporary tattoos, nail art, face painting, snacks, and performances by both emerging and established artists you can meet and talk to. Try out different instruments, transform the courtyard into a giant artwork with chalk, and join us as all these different activities come together in one grand finale – musical manifesto of youth!

From small children to young adults – the day belongs to you, and you make the rules. But that’s not all: with the launch of the NO Youth Advisory Board, we want to embed the voices and ideas of young people at the heart of our programme and our organisation. What interests you? What worries you? And how should theatre respond? This is a space for your demands, your ideas, and your vision. Be loud – we want to hear you!

WITH NO Jung, NO Kids, Heroes, Madonna Mädchenkult.Ur e. V. and many more
