Zwei entzückende, schrullige alte Tanten erfahren durch eine Annonce in der Zeitung, dass in ihrem Haus ein Mord stattfinden soll. Die neugierige Anteilnahme der Nachbarn nimmt mehr und mehr voyeuristische Züge an. Gott sei Dank nimmt sich Miss Marple des Falles an; aber auch sie kann nicht verhindern, dass nach einem Stromausfall die Leiche eines Mannes im Wohnzimmer liegt. Und dann wird auch noch Tante Dora vergiftet. Was soll Miss Marple davon halten? Aber dann entdeckt sie etwas Merkwürdiges…
