Cabaret Heartbreak

A cabaret evening for anyone whose heart has ever been broken – by love, history, politics, institutions, the nation, art or hope. Blending performance, drag, dance, music, poetry and political absurdity, Berlin-based artists come together in the “Vessel of Love”. In the face of cynicism, isolation and exhaustion, “Cabaret Heartbreak” draws on wit, joy, glamour, defiance and radical tenderness. In a present where despair increasingly shapes our political and emotional realities, the stage becomes a temporary refuge: a space to laugh, mourn, fantasise and scream together – and to remain side by side just a little longer. With “Buttox Antiphon”, ABA NAIA brings to the stage a call-and-response piece about selfishness, self-assertion and the arsehole within us and around us. Alvin Collantes encounters his drag persona “Bibingka” in an intimate ritual caught between staying and leaving, mourning and becoming. Werner Hirsch, alias Antonia Baehr, explores the scream as sound and form, rhythm and gesture. Ariel Efraim Ashbel takes the weekly Torah reading, the Parashah, as the starting point for a performative examination of Noah’s Ark and the Tower of Babel. Cassie Augusta Jørgensen’s “Hamletta” navigates grief, transformation and the choreography of the domesticated body. Faravaz gives voice to experiences of exile, freedom and self-determination.Thelma Buabeng and Olympia Bukkakis guide the audience through the evening. Together, they hold together what remains of the broken heart.
