Mind the gap! Things are bound to get lively when "Chanson-Nette"—with her quintessential Berlin wit—and the guys from Trio Scho start playing and singing.
Hop aboard our musical-cabaret "Berlin-Odessa Express" for a journey featuring chansons, timeless classics, and stories from both cities, spanning the 1920s to the present day. Spirited and cheeky—yet moving and funny.
Sadly, the full route has been too dangerous to travel for the past four years, but giving in to lethargy is not an option in the face of Russia’s brutal war of aggression against Ukraine. We are playing anyway—in fact, now more than ever! With our music and our energy, we’ll take you safely from the Spree to the Black Sea!
Look forward to a humorous blend of styles!
"Chanson-Nette" (Jeannette Urzendowsky)—a true-blue Berliner—sings and tells stories about her beloved city from the 1920s to today. She is spiritedly accompanied by three musicians based in Berlin who hail from Ukraine and Russia: Gennadij Desatnik (violin/vocals), Valeriy Khoryshmann (accordion), and Alexander Franz (double bass).
The trio waxes lyrical about the cradle of jazz in Odessa and the musical traditions of Poltava, as well as the unique atmosphere that once defined multi-ethnic metropolises like Kyiv and their Ukrainian homeland. Yet, having lived by the Spree for over thirty-five years, they also delight in expressing—through music—the many things about Berlin that inspire them today.
