“THE PRESSING” is a solo performance by choreographer and performer Dani Brown that reclaims the word CUNT from vulgarity and transforms it into a speculative artistic entity. Surrendering body, voice, and choreographic practice to this imagined interlocutor, Brown creates a queer performance universe that is intimate, grotesque, humorous, and transcendent.
Movement, monologue, and song intertwine as CUNT appears as diva, oracle, director, and performer. Accompanied by the immersive soundscape of Justin F. Kennedy and framed by a Vanitas-inspired stage environment, Brown’s body morphs through human and nonhuman states – animal, vegetal, mythic, cinematic.
“THE PRESSING” explores the invisible forces of hormones, nerves, memory, and desire that shape embodied experience. The result is a visceral, sensual, and darkly humorous work about gendered flesh, agency, and transformation.
