TABEA ZIMMERMANN & ANTOINE TAMESTIT

Solo and Duo Works for Viola by Eötvös, Hindemith, Benjamin, and others

One of today’s leading violists and teachers, Tabea Zimmermann counts many prominent musicians among her former students—including Antoine Tamestit. At the Pierre Boulez Saal, the two artists join forces to present an epoch-spanning program of solo works and duos from the Middle Ages to the present day, with the celebrated Baroque Passacaglia from Biber’s “Mystery” Sonatas and Bernd Alois Zimmermann’s 1955 Sonata among the highlights.
