Observation night at the Wilhelm-Foerster-Sternwarte

Guided tours and observations of the Berlin night sky

LiveGet up close to the sky: with a trip to the Wilhelm-Foerster-Sternwarte on the Insulanerhügel in Schöneberg. Explore the night sky over Berlin and learn all about the celestial bodies that are visible at the moment. Depending on the weather, you can observe double stars, star clusters, planetary nebulae and even galaxies! In addition to a guided tour and guided observation through the large telescope, the »Bamberg Refractor«, you can also look through the smaller telescopes on the roof of the observatory and enjoy the beauty of the cosmos. The event will take place whatever the weather. If the sky is overcast, the magnification of the telescope will be demonstrated by setting it on objects in the city; if it rains, the focus will be on technical aspects and the history of the observatory. Unfortunately, it will then not be possible to open the dome. Please note: There is no lighting on the path to the observatory, so please bring your own torch for when it is dark.Photo © SPB Natalie Toczek
