They looked up at the countless points of light and tried to create an order to orientate themselves by using constellations - because for them the sky was both a calendar and a compass.Many of the constellations we still use today are thousands of years old, dating back to ancient Babylon and passed down to us through Egyptian, Greek and ultimately Roman civilisations. In the sky we find gods and goddesses, kings and heroes, monsters and magical objects - all with their own story.
