The family is sitting in the kitchen, which is both the safest and, at the same time, most dangerous place. Someone is sharpening a knife, someone else is packing a suitcase and everyone is acting as if nothing were happening. A cockroach is rustling around in the cupboard – and this is neither a metaphor nor a fairytale, but instead the absurd reality that we are living in: we cook dinner and run to the shelter, laugh about memes, cry about the lists of the dead, switch on TikTok and are without electricity. „Karaluchy„ tackles the theme of war, as the fear and doubt that cannot be survived without irony, sarcasm and laughter. After all, war is not only a tragedy; it is also a grotesque everyday experience. The cockroach, cowardly, repulsive, indestructible, becomes a symbol for war, propaganda and everything that we do not want to see but has snuck into our homes all the same.
