From 17 to 19 July we cordially invite you to the festival “Moment Mal” (Just a Moment) at the Temporary Bauhaus-Archiv. This is where you can take a timeout and experience what a break can truly offer. Look forward to fascinating artist talks, film screenings, art works, music and sound installations. Works of photography, sculpture and painting offer insights into the multifaceted meaning of “breaks”, while workshops invite you to become acquainted with an entirely different kind of break.
Breaks played an important role at the historic Bauhaus. Outside the classroom, Bauhaus students and staff played sports, performed music, partied and relaxed with friends in the sun. The activities and relationships that emerged during these breaks led to new ideas. “Young Bauhaus” is following this example. As young people in a fast-moving world, we want to contemplate the various facets of breaks.
Some of us are taking a break between high school and university, while others have trouble finding time for breaks at all in their hectic academic life. The weekly Young Bauhaus meetings are often the only possibility to take time for art and forget the stress of everyday life. We like to think that taking a break is a simple act that anyone can do, but the reality is oftentimes different. With this festival, we want to dismantle the barriers that stand in the way of rest and relaxation and allow everyone to press the pause button – even for just a moment.
Our programme is devoted to the topic of “taking a break”. What comprises a good break? Can everyone allow themselves to take breaks? How can I optimise my break? What happens if I’m forced to take a break? Stop by and discover answers to these questions yourself.
