String Quartets by Korngold, Janáček, and Mendelssohn

Since its 2018 Pierre Boulez Saal debut, the Heath Quartet has performed works from Haydn to Jörg Widmann here. The four musicians return this season with a program that is equally rich in contrasts, centered around Janáček’s Intimate Letters, the composer’s musical declaration of love to Kamila Stösslová. Korngold’s First String Quartet and Mendelssohn’s Op. 44 No. 3 bookend the concert.
