With the 10th edition of the Up to Three summer festival, ensemble mosaik at Acker Stadt Palast explores the fusion of elements with artistic, sonic, and social connections. The festival, which has been dedicated to ensembles of up to three musicians since 2017, is using the periodic table as its aesthetic and structural foundation this year. The focus is on the
question of how musical, technical, and social elements can merge and generate new forms of sound and meaning.
The invited composers are developing works inspired by the idea of alloying: the combination of up to three elements into new musical materials. In the process, the musicians and composers are also forming new alliances. Up to Three combines artistic research, a workshop atmosphere, and public presentations—a concentrated example of ensemble mosaik’s interdisciplinary and collaborative approach.
