Die schwarze Krähe der Weißen Siedlung
Jira Duguid (Fantasia Malware)
A crow explores a dilapidated housing complex in Neukölln. In a docu-fiction game, Jira Duguid brings the stories of its residents to life—offering a virtual glimpse into daily life, community, and political resistance in the neighborhood.A lonely black crow perched atop the Weiße Siedlung begins to strike up conversations with its residents. In doing so, it learns of their stories, as well as the hardships and challenges of daily life in this privatised social housing complex at the end of Sonnenallee in Berlin-Neukölln, which is increasingly being left to fall into disrepair. Video game artist Jira Duguid, member of the collective Fantasia Malware and herself a resident of the Weiße Siedlung, has produced a docu-fiction mini-game for HAU4 that invites the audience to explore this very estate virtually. The game features anonymised representations of residents alongside excerpts from real conversations conducted by Jira Duguid. Through these virtual encounters, players gain insights into the local community and the political activism of the neighbourhood initiative, which is campaigning to address the existing grievances.
