Ich will nicht feige sein: Rupert Neudeck – Life and Work

A literary and musical exploration

What does it mean not to look away in a complex world? This reading approaches the life and thought of Rupert Neudeck – journalist, activist, and founder of the humanitarian organisation Cap Anamur, who stood for a relentlessly lived humanism. Yet the evening is more than a biographical reflection: it follows an attitude. A longing for humanity. A radical question of responsibility.

Four readers give voice to Neudeck’s words and ideas. They are joined by a young pianist – his grandson – whose musical accompaniment adds a personal dimension to the act of remembering. Framed by texts from Albert Camus, Heinrich Böll, and Günter Grass, a polyphonic dialogue unfolds on empathy, courage, and the question of how we choose to act today. An evening about not looking away. About doubt and conviction. And about the strength to act nonetheless.
