How do you write a 74-page biography of the famous, well-connected Berlin publisher Bruno Cassirer? Tonight’s guest, Robert von Lucius, has done just that and will describe in our exhibition talk how he managed it and what his approach was.

Together with exhibition curator Viktoria Bernadette Krieger, he will discuss his insights into Bruno Cassirer as a person with the audience.

About our guest:
Robert von Lucius is an author and journalist; for the “Jüdische Miniaturen” series, he has published works on Bruno Cassirer and Max Tau, among others. He studied law in Heidelberg and Bonn. From 1982 to 2014, he worked for the *Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung* in Frankfurt, Johannesburg (as Africa correspondent), Stockholm (covering the Nordic and Baltic countries), and Hanover.

Afterward, we cordially invite you to an open writing workshop and a chance to exchange ideas over a glass of wine or water. Inspired by the exhibition and the exhibition talk, we’ll explore the interplay of text, image, and layout and examine how written and visual elements can be combined.

For this purpose, we’ll have several typewriters, various art supplies, and gel plates for simple prints available. The resulting prints can be integrated directly into your own texts, becoming part of their design.

After a brief introduction and some suggestions, it’s time to get to work. The open format offers space to develop your own texts, experiment with different materials, and try out various ways of combining text and image. No prior experience is required.

Workshop Leader: Helena Dornieden
Start: 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the latest
Doors open: 5:30 p.m.

The exhibition “On to New Works! Max Slevogt, Bruno Cassirer, and Max Liebermann” will be open until the start of the event.Translated with DeepL
