Fourteen monumental 17th century statues of the Brandenburg electors are part of the permanent exhibition on the History of the Site.

However, only half of the family was depicted at the time – women were not included in this dynastic self-representation. The new intervention now places four princesses from four centuries alongside the sculptures for the first time, in order to make their spheres of influence visible. One example is Anna of Brandenburg (1487–1514), who, as Duchess of Schleswig-Holstein, secured her legacy through the endowment of significant artworks.

The exhibition was created as part of the WIRKSAM project, which highlights Hohenzollern women in ten different museums across Germany.

The special issue of Damals on the WIRKSAM project, titled “Fürstinnen der Hohenzollern. Adlige Netzwerke im Spätmittelalter”, is available in the museum shop of the Humboldt Forum.
