As early as 1896, postal workers began riding the first postal bicycles,
revolutionizing delivery. Since then, the bicycle has become
an indispensable part of everyday postal service. Our exhibition
takes you on a fascinating journey through the history of the bicycle
at the postal service and shows how it made postal operations more
efficient, inspired generations, and remains a key to sustainable
mobility to this day.
Discover historic bicycles, original uniforms, sturdy delivery bags,
and exciting documents and photographs from everyday postal
life. Learn how postal transport on two wheels was continuously
perfected, the significance of women‘s cycling for emancipation,
and how the iconic image of the female postal worker on a bicycle
came about. Today, modern delivery bikes are actively contributing
to an environmentally friendly mobility strategy. Join in! Try out a
loaded delivery bike for yourself and experience the everyday work
of bicycle delivery workers in an interactive way!
From the beginnings of postal delivery to today‘s mobility issues,
the exhibition invites you to rethink your own mobility – inspiring,
sustainable, and always relevant. Get on board and be inspired!
