One Million Objects. Florian de Brün Is Photographing the Collection
Florian de Brün has photographed the world’s largest Bauhaus collection. For the first time, the Bauhaus-Archiv / Museum für Gestaltung presents a selection of his latest photos and offers a behind-the-scenes look into its diverse holdings.
Each photo devotes its full attention to the objects themselves. This is achieved using a carefully defined set of photographic rules. Each object is depicted against a neutral background, immersed in uniform lighting and viewed from various perspectives. This staged authenticity highlights the idiosyncrasies of the objects – their elegance, function and even their imperfections.
Whether it’s the Vampyr vacuum cleaner, rag dolls or a sofa, Florian de Brün captures the individuality of these everyday objects, furniture, toys and artworks along with all the traces of their history and usage.
