Both artists draw inspiration for their artistic approaches from the rhythms of nature and, drawing on their diverse generational, political, geographic, and cultural backgrounds, translate these into compositions that oscillate between figuration and abstraction. Through emotionally and formally balanced paintings, they have become chroniclers of the mountains of their homelands—Kinnekulle in Sweden, where Eriksson established his studio in 2002, and Seoraksan in South Korea, where Kim has lived and worked since 1979. In this exhibition, the artists—who are each at different, pivotal points in their careers—depict the remote landscapes of their regions in a state of constant flux—ranging from vibrant colors to quiet, introspective moments.
