What does the human body look like in art? How has its depiction changed over time? And what might the body of the future look like? You’ll explore these questions together in two museums and through creative experimentation.

You’ll start at the Georg Kolbe Museum in Westend, where you’ll spend two days creating art centered on the themes of the body, movement, and sculpture. Inspired by Georg Kolbe’s sculptural works, you’ll discover how strongly his figures are influenced by ancient art. You’ll take a close look, sketch, and try out for yourselves how bodies can be shaped and brought to life.

Afterward, you’ll spend three days at the Altes Museum on Museum Island. There, you’ll encounter sculptures from antiquity: gods and goddesses, athletes, and depictions of people. Here, you’ll explore how bodies were depicted around 2,000 years ago. What stories do these figures tell? And how do they differ from today’s representations of the body? You’ll learn about various casting techniques and simple sculptural methods. Your hands and your imagination will be your most important tools.
