The garden of the Mies van der Rohe Haus is home to quince and walnut trees, crabapple, sweet and Cornelian cherry trees, and hawthorn. In October, the hard, tart fruits of the quince and crabapple ripen. They only become edible once they have been processed. Artist Olga Monina invites participants to pick them together and prepare them according to family recipes, turning them into special dishes. The workshop concludes with the Ernte-Dankfütterung, a shared meal served from her ceramic vessels.

Olga Monina’s practice brings together painting, ceramics, text, and cooking. History and folklore, language, and depictions of animals and vegetables provide the material for her work. Her paintings are populated by creature-like figures that communicate through dripping letters. Her anthropomorphic vessels move between sculpture and functional object. Through them, she explores the role of ritual in a secularised society. As part of the series Glücksfütterung, she brings objects and food together in symbolic arrangements and performative dinners, where guests eat and drink from the vessels and are encouraged to engage with them tenderly. The dishes draw on personal memories and their historical entanglements, while the table becomes a place for negotiating food politics.
