Women experiencing displacement

TELEPHONE GUIDANCE

In this audio tour, we focus on the female experience of flight and displacement. We focus on the stories of women who fled or were displaced in the final months of the Second World War and after the war.

During the flight, it was often the women who bore the responsibility for children, elderly relatives and everyday life under extreme conditions. Hunger, cold, exhaustion, fear and experiences of violence characterized this time.

This tour sheds light on the special connection between nationalism, gender roles and sexual violence in wars, both in the context of the Second World War and using current examples.

Using objects, photographs and escape reports, we report on the individual experiences of refugee and displaced women.
