The VOICE Albert O. Hirschman Prize for Intervention, Dissent and Renewal of Democratic Culture will be awarded for the first time on September 29, 2024 by the Foundation for Communication Development in memory of the sociologist, economist and activist Albert O. Hirschman (1915 – 2012).

In keeping with the spirit of the foundation's namesake's key work, "Exit, Voice, and Loyalty," and the stated purpose of the Foundation for Communication Development, the prize is intended to recognize individuals, groups, or projects that support the participation of disadvantaged groups, counter political apathy, or challenge populism. The aim is to promote and expand dialogue and participation, thereby helping to combat the tendency toward disengagement from democracy in this society.

The award ceremony will feature the presentation of the most impactful public contribution of 2025, selected this year by the jury appointed by the Foundation's Board of Trustees.
