Panel discussion on dealing with the street names after Ernst Moritz Arndt
In Adlershof, in the district of Treptow-Köpenick, a street and a square are named after the historian and poet Ernst Moritz Arndt (1769–1860). Arndt represented a nationalist worldview and repeatedly made openly anti-Semitic remarks. Given that the naming of streets – in addition to serving as a means of orientation – always constitutes an expression of political and cultural honour, the panel discussion will address the question of how the district of Treptow-Köpenick should deal with this legacy in future.
This is a joint event organised by the Commissioner for the Prevention of Anti-Semitism in the district of Treptow-Köpenick, the Museums Treptow-Köpenick, the Department of Culture and Museums, the Office for Further Education and Culture, the Social Space-Oriented Planning Coordination Unit, and the Treptow-Köpenick Participation Forum.
