Rhythm, movement, and the tactile materiality of analog media characterize the films of artist, filmmaker, and curator Thomas Feldmann, a defining voice of Frankfurt’s experimental scene in the 1980s, whose work is once again coming into focus today. Using film sequences and analog film footage as our starting point, we trace the path of his creative work—from the screen to the archive. In the process, the estate itself becomes the starting point for questions about cataloging, restoration, and the possibilities for preserving and making queerness visible in the archive.
