With the return of Guido Reni's "Diogenes in the Barrel", the Upper Gallery in the New Palace, which was decorated with important Baroque paintings by Frederick the Great, is once again complete. The work has been extensively examined, restored and researched from an art historical perspective. In a special guided tour, the restorer Bärbel Jackisch and the responsible curator Dr. Franziska Windt will present the new findings on the history, attribution and significance of the painting. They will also explain how the painting fits into the overall concept of the gallery. In this context, works by Artemisia Gentileschi and Luca Giordano will also be examined.Translated with DeepL
