SundayPopulaire: Reading Pictures!

Normally, we see words in books and texts, with images, we look at color, people, or objects. However, in our exhibition we try something new: we look at signs and symbols and read images. Artworks can be "read" to discover hidden signs and symbols within them.

Art can show us where people come from and how they are connected to each other. The artist Shirin Neshat asks exciting questions like: Who are you? How did you get here? In her photographic works, she combines powerful images with emotional texts.

But how do you actually understand pictures? Why can they say so much, even without words?
