Radialsystem was opened on 9 September, 2006. Since then, the former pumping station by the Spree has grown, changed, and re-invented itself – all the while staying true to its identity as an open space for art, ideas, and encounters with the unknown.
2026 marks our 20th birthday, which we would like to celebrate with our audiences, artists, neighbours, companions, and with all those who are just discovering Radialsystem now.
We will host a birthday weekend from 9 – 12 September, with concerts, performances, workshops, conversations, installations, communal meals, and lots of moments of togetherness.
Things will kick off with the German premiere of “Walden” by Heiner Goebbels, presented by Ensemble Klang from the Netherlands and Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop. An additional musical highlight will be a performance by the award-winning Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra, which was also formed 20 years ago. Sasha Waltz & Guests will present a special version of the choreography “In C”, with a very special musical guest invited just for the occasion. A new exhibition by Xavier Le Roy will take place on the Deck, alongside a varied programme throughout the building and in the area between the Spree, the terrace, and the meadow.
To end the festivities, there will be a big open day with a picnic, a family-friendly programme, and lots of activities for curious people of all ages. The whole building and the surrounding area will be filled with musical interludes, various kinds of games and conversations, and workshops to discover.
The full programme will be available when tickets go on sale on 5 June. We look forward to celebrating 20 years of Radialsystem with you!
