The documentary "Sabbath Queen" follows the life of Rabbi Amichai over a period of 21 years - heir to a family of rabbis spanning 38 generations, including several chief rabbis of Israel. Torn between tradition and rebellion, he becomes a drag queen, a queer father and founds Lab/Shul in New York, an inclusive, interfaith community. "Sabbath Queen" shows his quest to reshape religion and ritual, questioning patriarchy, celebrating interfaith love and advocating peace, ceasefire and an end to occupation, with warmth and no false resolution. A provocative, yet loving and unique documentary about faith, identity and Jewish survival in the changing 21st century.

After the screening, Dani Kranz, German-Jewish anthropologist and expert on Jewish life in the present, will talk to the director Sandi DuBowski and others. Further information will follow shortly.
