Public Tour: Medicinal Plants and Herbal Magic

History and Stories

Let’s explore the fascinating world of medicinal plants in the Medicinal Plant Garden! On our tour, you’ll learn how medicinal plant gardens have evolved from antiquity to the present day. We’ll explore the knowledge of Hildegard von Bingen, the role of women knowledgeable in herbalism, healers, and midwives, and the often-misunderstood history of “witches.” We’ll also show how poisonous plants were specifically used and understood. The tour combines historical practices and insights and illustrates how herbal medicine continues to shape our lives today.
