Public guided tour "Nature and German history"

In the tour through all the exhibition rooms, the concept of nature is explored using selected objects from 800 years of German history: From the world egg to the wolf to pictorial representations of destroyed landscapes of the Anthropocene. How has the changing relationship between man and nature shaped faith, life and society over the centuries? The mystic Hildegard von Bingen, for example, saw in nature an original force, "viriditas". In the early modern period, humans began to make extensive use of natural resources and permanently changed the environment. What people define as nature, how they deal with it and what ideas they associate with it are subject to constant change. The tour offers a variety of insights into events and developments that have changed or shaped the concept of nature.
