After centuries, the Blood Countess Erzsébet Báthory (Isabelle Huppert) unexpectedly reappears in Vienna. With the help of her maid Hermine (Birgit Minichmayr), she embarks on a wild chase through the city in search of a book that threatens her vampire realm. Exuberant, witty, camp, and opulently staged, Ulrike Ottinger—after more than 20 years of preparation—brings her passion project to life as a fantastical odyssey of a seductive vampire through the backdrops of Vienna.
