Paper in Motion: Mechanical Paper Bird

How can paper be transformed into a living creature? In this workshop, we create mechanical paper birds that are brought to life using wire, a special support and a simple turning mechanism.

​We explore the interplay between paper, movement and construction: by cutting, folding, connecting and assembling, we create our own moving bird, whose wings are set in motion by the mechanism. Along the way, we discover how a flat material can be transformed into a three-dimensional object with a dynamic movement of its own.

Creative design meets hands-on technical experimentation, inviting us to discover paper in a whole new way – as a material capable of movement. At the end of the workshop, everyone takes home their own handmade paper bird, ready to flap, swing and come to life with a simple turn.
