NEIGHBORHOOD WALK: VEB Bergmann-Borsig and June 17
The Bergmann-Borsig State-Owned Enterprise (VEB) was a model enterprise in the GDR. However, during the popular uprising of June 17, 1953, large segments of the workforce joined the rebels. Bernt Roder, director of the Museum Pankow, leads a tour of the grounds of the former VEB and explains how the events of June 1953 affected the factory. The tour also focuses on trade unionist Heinz Brandt, who resisted two German dictatorships.
